About Ken Bennett

Ken BennettKen has a 35 year history of demonstrated leadership in our community and a commitment of service.  He was a teacher and coach, Principal of Bill Reed Middle School, and the Director of Curriculum for the Thompson School District.  During his career, Ken was instrumental in the development of many programs such as: computer technology, industrial technology labs, literacy, student achievement and positive behavior, drop-out recovery, vocational education, and science programs, to name a few.

Since retiring from education, Ken has served the community in a variety of ways.  He has helped to secure grants from corporations that have provided the community with hundreds of thousands of dollars to support K-12 science programs.  He has coordinated a community-school partnership to develop and implement the Loveland School of the Arts. He is an active member of the Loveland Rotary Club and serves on the Governor’s Art Show, Teacher and Student Appreciation, and River Trail committees.

Ken has been a participant for the past several years with the Colorado Institute for Leadership Training (CILT).  CILT selects a small group of leaders from around the state to study current statewide issues including: Criminal Justice, Water, Growth, Transportation, Education, Health Care and Energy.  Most recently, Ken developed the idea of providing a series of public forums on current issues as a community service. Sponsored by the Larimer County Democratic Party and Loveland area Democrats, Ken coordinates the planning teams and moderates these forums on Transportation, Health Care, and Water.
