Ken on the Issues

Ken wants Your Vote because he wants to Work for You
in the Colorado State House of Representatives.
Following are some major issues he plans to focus on.

Education | Health Care | Transportation | Fiscal Responsibility | Energy | Safety & Security

Education: A strong public education system is essential to us being able to compete in a world market. I am a strong supporter for public schools:
- Educating all of Colorado's children to a high level,
- Reducing the drop-out rate,
- Appropriate uses of testing programs,
- Advancement of pre-school programs,
- And affordable higher education opportunities for all Colorado students.

Health Care: It is time to reform our health care system. One in seven Coloradoans are uninsured. Rapidly increasing health care costs are burdening our citizens and our businesses. I want a health care system that:
- Is affordable for consumers,
- Contains costs,
- Provides for choice of health care providers,
- And provides coverage for all Colorado citizens.

Transportation: Our transportation systems are in much need of repair and are essential to our safety. I will work for:
- Equitable ways of funding maintenance,
- Safety of our highways, bridges and tunnels,
- Cleaner fuels,
- And alternative transit systems such as passenger rail.

Fiscal Responsibility: I believe very strongly that we must be fiscally responsible for today and for future generations. We must provide for a diverse economic base and a positive environment for quality jobs by:
- Taking care of our transportation infrastructure,
- Providing quality education and health care systems,
- Ensuring accountable state spending systems,
- With fair and equitable revenue bases.

Energy: I am a strong advocate for energy independence.  Energy independence will:
- Give us a common goal to unite around,
- Strengthen our national security,
- Strengthen our foreign policy leverage,
- Provide significant economic growth opportunities in Colorado,
- Improve our environment,
- And provide for affordable energy options for consumers.

Safety and Security:  I am concerned about and will work for the safety of our citizens by:
- Supporting our judicial and law enforcement agencies,
- Supporting programs that reduce the recidivism rate which will save money and reduce crime,
- Protecting the rights of property owners,
- And protecting our land, air, and water quality, especially regarding safe drilling and mining practices.
